What does it mean when you say transition?

Change is situational (i.e. a birth of a baby, a lay-off from a job, a tragedy), but the human response to that change is the transition.  It means how we as human beings with all of our emotions, strengths, weaknesses, life's experiences, and wisdom, knowledge and personality traits react to the changes that show up.

How does transition relate to the business world?

Executives make decisions every day as businesses grow and change.  Whether these decisions mean relocation or downsizing or changing software applications these changes affect the people in the company--without people there isn't a company.  It is very important that companies establish an effective change management program to address how the effects of company changes have on people in order to successfully transition from the old to the new.
